Another Morning in Mantua

Mantua is quickly becoming a favorite spot to photograph. It’s gone largely unconsidered whenever I thought of places to go photograph. The bird refuge has usually been at or near the top of my list, but last week when I saw how good the light was and decided to get the camera and go out somewhere, Mantua won out in the debate of where to go, and I was so glad it did. There is a vast amount of photographs to be made there around the reservoir, so many possibilities for weaves, and so last Friday I went there again. The light wasn’t quite as good as it was the week previous, but still good enough to spend about 2 hours there. I spent a brief amount of time on the south side, where I’d spent all of what little time I’d spent there, and then decided to go explore the north side. That is to say, the north east side, as most of the north side is only accessible via a walking/biking path, and I have yet to follow that section. On the northeast side of the reservoir is a boat launch, so I parked there, and went south along that same path, and was a little overwhelmed by the possibilities. I was content to just walk (with my camera and tripod propped on my shoulder) and see and look. I made a few photographs, but in that moment I needed to just absorb the sights and sounds. So while not a lot of photographs were made that day, there will be many made in many future visits.
